If you choose the apple, you cannot eat the orange.

If you want to eat lunch, you cannot eat dinner.

If today is monday, then yesterday was not monday.

Having said this, i did not sing that.

There’s something wrong with the formatting today.

Walk Alone

Monday, September 4th, 2006

Jumping off the pickup and landing in a cloud of dust, he makes his way to the driver and promises a cold beer during the blazing hot afternoon when he returns.

If i make it back alive, he thought silently.

The pickup departs in a cloud of dust and sand churned up by its hind wheels. He leaves the dirt road and walks across the rocky and sandy desert with no sign of civilization visible in sight. He whistles a happy tune as he walks, in direct contrast to the mood of the envirnoment around him.

The land has been like this for nearly two decades now

His lifesaver tapping slightly against the side of his leg with every step he took on the opposite side, and ammunition clinking in his pocket to accompany every sound of the gravel being stepped on beneath his high cut boots, he glances around for any signs of danger. In recent weeks there have been sightings of sandworms. Big ugly creatures that listened to the footsteps of its prey walking above and explodes right in front or below them, taking them by surprise and swallowing them up.

Wonder why there are so many of them recently.

He walked out of the desert and right into a tropical rainforest, right smack in the middle of the desert. It had been bothering him for a while - it was also the main purpose of his trip today.

A tropical rainforest in the middle of a desert? And the surrounding is devoid of life.

A humming sound in the air alerted him. Putting skills that he learnt as a mercenery for as long as he can remember, he trod carefully so as to give himself the element of surprise. Every breaking of a small twig, shaking of branch, could be heard distinctively in the deafening and still silence. Pushing aside a big leafy fern, he gasped silently and stood in awe at what they had been hiding from him.  A structure that stood 100 meters tall, humming merrily as it operated. A silent breeze across his face put him back into combat mode. A quick survey around the perimeter.

What? No guards?

A double check. None. No guards. Their grand, expensive equippment left standing alone in the middle of a rainforest with no guards or sentries. Taking a sudden step forward, something infront of him moved back. He took a step back, startled. At the same time, he heard a soft movement behind him. A glance to the back showed him trees and ferns.

There’s no one around me.

Suspicious, he decided to make a run for it. Dashing towards his right through the vegetation. He could hear hurried footsteps behind him, but each time he looked behind, there would be no one at all.

Could it be…?

He faked a left turn, then spun to his right to face his invisible confused pursuers and drew his lifesaver. Matching silver and black custom made 0.44mm pressure projectile revolver in both his hands was a sight that made many potential enemies shiver in fear. Shooting blindly into the air as he retreated backwards towards safety, he felt the metal horseshoe on his boots strike a landmine.

Damn.

An invisible hand punched him in the gut, throwing him off the ground and detonating the landmine. The only thing that he last recalled was a burning sensation from his lower half of his body and a sickly red liquid covering his vision. As he lay dying on the ground, invisible men materialised from the surronundings and surveyed him. After much debating and a phone call, they picked him up and carried him into the structure.

Within an hour, the area where the mine exploded was repatched and restored. With none wiser of what happened to a stalked man and his invisible capators.

President Chalenge 2006

An unexpected visitor at the event.

How’s life?

How’s it indeed.

If we keep thinking and pondering on the "What if…", we will never move forward and enjoy what we have right now.

What if a small action done today could affect the fate of the world in the next 20 years? Interesting.

The grass is always greener on the other side. But stop attempting to go over to the otherside and be contented with what we have.

But shouln’t we always strive for the best, for perfection?

Contradiction within wise words.
